]]>Tranquility Base is a well-maintained 2006 Ocean Alexander 58 that has been kept inside a custom-built boat house, keeping it free from constant exposure to the elements. This owner-operator motoryacht is listed with Alexander Marine USA for $1.229 million.
“The 58 pilothouse was designed by the iconic Ed Monk Jr., who has been producing eye-pleasing, classic, seakindly pilothouse yachts for Ocean Alexander for almost three decades. Indeed, there are now more than 1,000 Ocean Alexanders cruising around the world; the current lineup goes from 42 to 98 feet. The new 58 pilothouse is a traditional three-stateroom, two-head design with lots of teak and luxury appointments that appeal to buyers who are used to the best, whether in their homes or their yachts, and who also, as Johnny says, want the independence of running the boat themselves. (With three staterooms, of course, there’s room for a crew, but the boat is really designed for the owner-operators of the world),” Yachting previously reported.
Powered by twin 700 hp Caterpillar C-12 diesel engines, Tranquility Base can hit 20 knots. But this yacht is not about speed, it’s about cruising in comfort. Dial it back to around 13 knots for a long-range cruise speed.
The 58’s salon has high-gloss Sakura wood with teak and Burl wood trim. Stepping inside the salon via a stainless-steel framed glass door from the cockpit, the custom exotic woodwork glows in the natural light, creating a warm, relaxing sensation. Recline in a leather loveseat to port or kick back on the sofa to starboard.
The galley is forward and to starboard, just abaft the helm on centerline. The U-shaped galley has plenty of counter space for food prep, and it’s equipped with an electric cooktop, oven and microwave. Stow your cold goods in the oversized refrigerator/freezer and other galley accessories in an array of cabinets. Forward and to port is a dinette, allowing guests to have their meals with a view while keeping the skipper company.
Tranquility Base has two helm stations. There is the climate-controlled lower helm and a flybridge helm shaded by the factory hardtop. During inclement weather conditions, the flybridge has a canvas enclosure with vents for air flow. This Ocean Alexander 58 Pilothouse has the following navigation and electronics setup:
Lower Helm
Flybridge
Primary access to the flybridge is via a set of steps in the cockpit. Guests can relax in a U-shaped settee that is shaded by the hardtop or join the captain in one of two Stidd helm chairs. (There is aso internal stair access from the lower helm station.)
Guests can enjoy the open air and sweeping views from the flybridge, or on the foredeck for those seeking a little more quiet time. Dive in and take a dip off the swim platform, or launch the tender out to find your own private beach for lunch shoreside.
After a long day on the water, retire to one of three staterooms. The exotic-wood theme extends into the master stateroom with high- gloss Sakura and burl wood finishes. Wood pillars, large mirrors and a queen-size berth create a cozy, homelike feeling. Owners have an en suite head and more than enough stowage space with under-berth drawers, chest drawers and full-length hanging lockers. Guests will feel spoiled in the forepeak VIP with a queen-size berth, entertainment center and a full-length hanging locker. The third guest stateroom has side-by-side twin berths with full-length hanging lockers. A head with a full-size shower is located across from the third guest stateroom.
Alexander Marine stated that “This spacious three-stateroom, two-head vessel will cradle you in comfort and elegance…Year round climate-controlled comfort will allow you to extend your cruising grounds. All the while you will find that the quality shines through.”
Where is Tranquility Base located? The yacht is currently lying in Seattle.

]]>The post Always In Style: Ocean Alexander 85E For Sale appeared first on Yachting.
]]>“From the dock, the 85E is almost a contradiction in terms: modern yet ageless. She has the requisite reversed transom, too often called euro, that embraces and protects a wonderfully large swim platform; she has the large windows in her topsides, and everything from the window pillars to the electronics arch is raked,” Yachting previously wrote. “Yet anyone who loves the lines of a vintage Rolls-Royce or a classic Trumpy motoryacht will be right at home here. Ten years down the line, the 85E will still turn heads.”
Chris Caswell couldn’t have been more right in his assessment, the Ocean Alexander 85E is still turning heads over 13 years later. The 85E was a platform that bridged the gap between traditional Ocean Alexander styling and a more European-style design, a trait you see magnified in the builder’s newest models. MarineMax currently has UnCorked, a 2011 Ocean Alexander 85E, listed with a $2.699 million asking price.
“UnCorked is a 2011 Ocean Alexander 85E that has been maintained with pride. She is a marvel in yachting engineering and a beauty on the water,” says MarineMax.
Stepping into the salon guests will appreciate the natural light flooding the space from the nearly waist-to-ceiling windows running the length of the room. Lounge seating is aft with an L-shaped sofa to starboard and two barrel lounge chairs to port. A formal dining space sits amidships, forward of the lounge area, with a six-chair dining table.
Past the forward bulkhead, the pilothouse has the lower helm station forward to port while the rest of the area is dedicated to the country galley. Galley appliances and amenities include:
Exterior entertainment spaces onboard UnCorked are abundant and varied. If guests are looking to enjoy alfresco dining outside the cockpit is a go-to spot with transom seating and a fixed dining table. If it’s sun they’re after, the 85E has sun pads on the foredeck and the after section of the flybridge. Speaking of the flybridge, there’s shaded lounge seating forward under the hardtop—which has a sunroof—or an open section aft that can house loose lounge chairs.
After a fun day on the water, owners and their guests can head belowdecks where all four staterooms await. Amidships, the full-beam master stateroom has a king berth with under berth stowage, sofa seating to port, nightstands, a vanity with a seat to starboard, two full-size cedar-lined closets, a 32-inch flat-screen TV and a his-and-hers en suite head. The forepeak VIP has a queen berth with under berth stowage, a cedar-lined hanging locker, a 22-inch flat-screen TV and an en suite head. The port VIP stateroom has two twin berths and a flat-screen TV while the final starboard stateroom has two twin berths that can convert to a king with a mattress insert.
UnCorked has the same powerplant Yachting’s test 85E had—twin 1,600 hp MTU 10V 2000 diesels—which push UnCorked to an 18-knot top hop and a 15-knot cruise speed. Slowing to 10 knots decreases full consumption to two gallons per mile, giving the 85E a nearly 1,000-nautical-mile range.
Some other notable features on board UnCorked include:

]]>The post Ocean Alexander Unveils the Puro 35P Superyacht appeared first on Yachting.
]]>Ocean Alexander debuted its Puro series earlier this year at the Palm Beach International Boat Show with the line’s first model, the 35P. The 35-meter yacht was designed in collaboration with Italian designer Giorgio M. Cassetta and naval architect Andrea Agrusta of NavalHead, also in Italy.
Puro is one of four series that the builder offers, and Ocean Alexander says it wanted this line to have global appeal. Hence, the yacht has a number of options and features that can allow owners to customize the way it looks, and that can be used differently in various destinations or cruising scenarios worldwide.
Multifunctional features on the foredeck include a hot tub with a lounge pad whose center section slides on tracks, allowing it to be used as a sun pad and U-shaped settee. Alfresco dining is on the bridge deck and in the cockpit, giving owners and guests multiple options for making the most of the view in any anchorage or underway.
Raising the transom door reveals a seaside sunken beach club with direct access to the hydraulic swim platform, along with lounge seating and stowage. Owners can choose to have a traditional tender garage instead.
Interior styling options include two palettes: the warmer Nautique style that evokes a sense of comfort with mahogany finishes and light neutral tones, and the tranquil Sereno, which has more gray tones.
Furniture placement helps define the salon’s social zones, with an L-shaped settee and square coffee table to port, positioned across from a sofa to create a conversation space. Formal dining is forward with an oval table. Up a level, the Sky Deck has an L-shaped settee to port and a bar to starboard, as well as a day head forward.
Accommodations include a main-deck master along with four staterooms belowdecks for eight guests. The two VIP staterooms are amidships to port and starboard, each with queen-size berths and en suite heads. The forward two en suite guest staterooms mirror each other with side-by-side twin berths that convert to queens.
Power for the 35 Puro is a pair of 2,000 hp MAN V-12 diesels, which push the nearly 114-foot trideck motoryacht to a reported 17-knot top speed. Ocean Alexander expects the 35P to have a 2,100-nautical-mile maximum range cruising at hull speed, allowing more than enough distance to explore in style.

]]>Black Ice, a 1998 Ocean Alexander 64, was stretched to 64 feet by the LeClercq Marine shipyard in Seattle. This is an owner-operator-friendly cruiser with a three-stateroom, two-head layout. Black Ice is on the market with Alexander Marine USA for $674,000.
Powered by twin 670 hp twin Detroit Diesel engines, Black Ice has a max speed of 17 knots. Cruising speed is 14 knots. A hydraulic Trac stabilizer system helps keep the yacht stable as a table on sporty days. Bow and stern thruster aid with close-quarters handling.
Black Ice has been well maintained and is ready for new owners to take it out on its next bluewater adventure. Some of this yacht’s notable features include:
Black Ice’s cockpit is laid out with a teak sole and the area is partially shaded by the flybridge. The cockpit is a perfect spot to relax in the sun and enjoy the scenery while entertaining guests. Pull out a few chairs after fixing you a beverage at the wet bar, and grill a few burgers for lunch while cruising down the coastline. Looking for a little privacy? Walk up to the foredeck where a few guests can sunbathe while enjoying the ocean breeze.
Black Ice’s flybridge is accessed from either a ladder in the cockpit or a set of stairs in the pilothouse. The flybridge is shaded by a Bimini top, offering the option of sun or shade while relaxing on the starboard side settee with removable table, or one of two captain’s chairs. The aft deck of the flybridge is loaded with a 13′ 2010 Boston Whaler, which can be loaded into the water with a 1,500-pound, electric-hydraulic dinghy davit. Black Ice has the following electronics:
The motorycht’s salon is accessed via a sliding glass door from the cockpit, which when opened creates an indoor-outdoor entertainment space. The first thing you notice in the salon is a nearly 360-degree view of the water. Relax on the sofa with table to starboard or on a couple of portside chairs.
Forward the salon is Black Ice’s galley. The mid-galley design makes it easy for owners to entertain guests inside and outside. Stow cold goods in a Sub-Zero refrigerator and dry goods and galley accessories in cabinets above and below the countertop. Granite countertops provide plenty of space for food prep, and the galle has the following amenities:
This pilothouse is fully forward on the main deck. Three raked windows forward as well as side windows give the captain unobstructed views around the vessel. An L-shaped settee with a table here lets guests keep the skipper company underway.
After a long day on the water, there are three staterooms for owners and guests. The master stateroom is full-beam with an island berth and en suite head. Stowage space includes drawers underneath the berth, nightstands with drawers and hanging lockers. Turn on the reading lamp and dive into a book before drifting off to sleep. The forepeak VIP has a centerline berth. Soft LED lighting creates a comfortable, relaxed feeling. Hanging lockers and drawers underneath the berth provide stowage for personal belongings. The third guest stateroom has two twin-sized berths with stowage for personal belongings in drawers under each berth as well as a hanging locker.
Where is Black Ice located? The yacht is currently lying in Seattle.

]]>The Ocean Alexander 78 Enclosed Bridge is a model that walks the line of being for owner-operators and owners looking for a crew-yacht experience. HMY currently has Jane E, a 2014 Ocean Alexander 78 Enclosed Bridge, listed for $2.859 million. The 78-foot motoryacht features a three-stateroom layout and a two-berth crew quarters.
“The large volume on [Jane E] gives you the feel of a spacious and much larger yacht,” HMY Yachts says. “She is a late-model enclosed pilothouse motor yacht that has had nothing but the best care since new. This motor yacht is in Bristol condition with no expense spared since building her.”
Stepping into the salon guests will appreciate the natural light from the waist-to-ceiling windows and the lounge seating flanking the room, including the L-shaped sofa to starboard and two barrel-shaped lounge chairs to port.
Past the forward bulkhead guests will find a day head leading into the country galley, which has full-size appliances, large counters, and stowage throughout. Forward, the galley has a comfortable built-in bench seat, four upholstered chairs, and a high gloss dining table that can accommodate six people. Appliances include:
After a fun day on the water comes to an end and the last drink has been served, owners and guests can head belowdecks to one of three en suite staterooms. Amidships, the full-beam master has a king berth, a variety of stowage and a Samsung flat-screen TV. The forepeak VIP has a centerline queen berth while the port guest stateroom has side-by-side single berths which is a great feature for those traveling with kids.
The cockpit will be the go-to spot for meals when the weather is good. The transom bench seat has room for four-plus people while the fixed table and loose chairs offer seating for as many as six to eight people to enjoy alfresco dining. It’s worth noting the area is shaded by the flybridge overhang above and the service bar forward has refrigerator drawers and separate access to crew quarters and a staircase up to the bridge deck.
The bridge deck aft acts as the tender stowage while Jane E is underway, but at anchor with the tender deployed and the sun shade up, it becomes an exterior entertainment space with loose furniture set up for lounging. The enclosed bridge skylounge has a three-seat helm station forward and a U-shaped dinette abaft that’s perfect for a fine dining experience and crew meetings alike.
Twin 1,600 hp MTU 10V2000 M94 diesels give Jane E a reported 24-knot top hop. The engines currently have 2,975 hours on them as of February 2024.
Some other notable features on board Jane E include:

]]>The 2003 Ocean Alexander 48 Altus accommodates six guests in three staterooms, is owner-operator friendly and is on the market for $349,000.
“The 48 seemed gifted with an easily driven hull. Given throttle, she rose to a plane with little fuss and reached a maximum speed of 25.4 knots at 3,000 rpm. At 2,700 rpm I recorded a speed of 20.9 knots-a solid cruising speed with a half load of fuel and an owner’s gear on board. I recorded low sound levels and the reading of 80 dB(A) in the salon at 2,700 rpm is worthy of note,” as previously reported in Yachting.
Andiamo is powered by twin 485 hp Yanmar diesel engines. This yacht can quickly spool up to a 25-knot top hop. At a 21-knot cruise speed, range is around 300 nautical miles. The motoryacht has the following electronics and navigation gear:
Step aboard through the transom door and into the cockpit, which has plenty of room for a table and chairs for those who enjoy alfresco style dining. Fire up the barbecue grill and throw on a few burgers before taking a dive off the swim platform, which has new Seadek flooring. Want to catch dinner? The cockpit has two rod holders for wetting a line. A tender is stowed on the foredeck with a davit for launching and retrieval. Enjoy excursions to a private beach or just take an exploratory ride around nearby islands.
Climb up a set of stairs to the flybridge to join the captain and relax on an L-shaped settee with table or take a seat in the companion helm chair, all while enjoying 360-degree views. The flybridge has a Bimini top for shade and a plastic enclosure to protect the space from the elements.
Andiamo’s salon, accessed via a sliding glass door from the cockpit, has a satin-finish Burmese teak interior that glows in the natural light entering the superstructure’s side windows. Guests can relax on the L-shaped settee with a table to port or in a few loose chairs while watching a game on the flat=screen TV.
The galley is also to port, forward and open to the salon. Locking open the salon’s sliding glass door creates an open-air environment from the galley to the cockpit. Serve a hearty breakfast at the dinette across from the galley while preparing for the day’s adventure. The galley has plenty of counter space for meal prep and has the following amenities:
Accommodations belowdecks include three staterooms. The forepeak master stateroom has a queen-sized island berth. There is an en suite head with a shower. The VIP stateroom has a full-sized berth with a shared head, hanging locker and drawers for stowage. The third guest stateroom has twin-sized over/under bunks and shares the day head with the VIP.
Other notable maintenance procedures and upgrades performed in 2023:
Alexander Marine stated that “this Ocean Alexander 48′ Altus is a timeless style, which offers a great layout. Perfect for up to 6 people and great for cruising, fishing and island hopping! This is a great hull design with a fast and dry ride which can transport you and your family in comfort for years to come. A bow thruster adds to the convenience to make it easy to handle.”

]]>MarineMax has Almost Done, an Ocean Alexander 27R, listed at $7.99 million. The low-hour 2022 build will make a lasting impression with its beach club, whirlpool spa and five-stateroom layout which has an on-deck master stateroom and three VIP staterooms in total.
The “R in this series from Ocean Alexander, stands for Revolution,” Yachting previously reported. “It’s an apt description because the series, which also includes the 88-foot 27R and 97-foot 30R, is different from anything else Ocean Alexander has built in its 40-plus years in business. Starting with the styling, which is decidedly modern and edgy, there’s a deliberate break from the builder’s more traditional look. It’s all the more notable that the appearances of both the traditional cruisers and the Revolution series come from yacht designer Evan K. Marshall.”
The Sanlorenzo SL96A Gatsby is currently listed with Allied Marine for $9.25 million.
“The ‘A’ in SL96A stands for asymmetric and Sanlorenzo achieves this unique design by, Conserving only the gangway on the starboard side and eliminating the one on the port side, which shifts to the roof of the superstructure,” says Sanlorenzo. “The asymmetrical configuration, seen on SL102A first, frees up about 10 square meters of space for internal use. With respect to a traditional layout, this arrangement offers more space, improving luminosity and flexibility.”
Furniture placement in the salon helps to define the yacht’s social spaces. A six-person L-shaped settee and ottoman are immediately to starboard with only a cabinet separating the settee from the sliding glass doors leading to the cockpit. A formal dining space for eight guests is adjacent to the salon’s settee, a feat only achieved because of the extra space afforded by the asymmetrical design. A flat-screen TV is mounted forward against the bulkhead separating the salon from the galley forward and to starboard, and the on-deck master suite forward and to port. A day head is just forward of the bulkhead and to port.”
Gilman Yachts has Obsession, a Viking Yachts 93 Motor Yacht, listed and an asking $7.4 million. The 2018 enclosed-flybridge motor yacht has charter potential with its five-stateroom layout, two crew cabins and a sub six-foot draft.
Yachting‘s initial review of the Viking 93 Motor Yacht reported how the New Jersey boatbuilder’s flagship model was based on its 75 Motor Yacht’s design, but also drew inspiration from a Viking owner’s Westport 112.
“One Viking owner also has a Westport, and Viking’s designers and top brass spent a good amount of time on board that yacht learning how to nail down the needs of owners in that size range. What Viking developed from that experience is a boat built for socializing, one that lets hands-on owners feel at home while enjoying mega-yacht features.”
The Hatteras Yachts M90 Panacea called Jetstream is listed with Atlantic Yacht & Ship for $10.3 million. The 2019 build has an options list that totals more than $2 million. The motoryacht has a four-stateroom, five-head layout that sleeps 10.
This yacht can go the distance or go quickly. Captain’s choice. Twin 1,900 hp Caterpillar C-32A diesels provide power on Jetstream, giving it a reported 24.7-knot top speed and a 22-knot cruise speed. The engines have just 500 hours on them. Jetstream also has a Bahamas-friendly 5-foot-7-inch draft.
This Hatteras M90 Panacea has the performance, but it also has luxury cruising comfort. The salon feels thoroughly modern, thanks in part to the white-oak sole and light-tone furnishings. Frameless house-spanning windows and indirect lighting adds a sense of elegance and enhances the salon’s open feeling.
Alexander Marine has Lanikai, an Ocean Alexander 100 Skylounge, listed for sale with an asking price of $9.8 million. The 2019 motoryacht has a five-stateroom layout, a crew quarters and engines with very low hours. Let’s take a closer look.
When Yachting first reported on the 100 Skylounge we noted at the time that “Ocean Alexander already offers a 90-footer with a four-stateroom layout whose guest spaces would qualify as VIP suites on most yachts. With its OA 100 Skylounge, the builder has added an on-deck master, much like the kind aboard superyachts. That’s one reason why Ocean Alexander calls the 100 Skylounge the entry-level yacht in its six-model mega-yacht series, which stretches up to 155 feet length overall.”
Atlantic Yacht and Ship Inc. currently has Done Deal, a 2014 Hatteras 80 Motor Yacht, listed for sale with an asking price of $4.1 million. The 80-footer has a four-stateroom, five-head layout with accommodations for eight, and two crew cabins that sleep four.
The four staterooms include a full-beam master stateroom amidships with a centerline king berth and an en suite head. The forepeak VIP stateroom has a centerline queen berth and an en suite head. The portside VIP stateroom also has a queen berth and en suite head. The final guest stateroom is to starboard and has two single berths with an en suite head.
Rhapsody, a 2009 Paragon 94, underwent an extensive refit by Lyman Morse in 2018. The 94-foot motoryacht is currently listed for $2.975 million with Worth Avenue Yachts, which represents a $750,000-plus price reduction.
The refit included servicing all equipment and systems, updating soft goods, adding a dining area, transforming the flybridge into an enclosed skylounge and repainting the upper deck space.
Twin 1,550 hp Caterpillar C-32 diesel engines work with the yacht’s planing hull form (with 13.5-degree transom deadrise) to help propel this 100-ton motoryacht to a 20-knot top hop and a 14-knot cruise speed. The engines have just over 2,000 hours on them.
The 2007 Hargrave 82 Open Bridge motoryacht Roxy Maria could be a solid fit for an experienced owner-operator or for owners traveling with a small crew, according to Hargrave Custom Yachts, who built the motoryacht and is selling it for its current owners. The yacht is listed for $1.995 million.
When it comes to boat handling with or without crew, this Hargrave has upper and lower helm stations, bow and stern thrusters and two cockpit docking stations. There are also full walkaround decks and side-deck access from the lower helm station.
With regards to the interior layout, this yacht’s salon has three lounge chairs positioned around the room with a four-person sofa to port. The sole-to-ceiling, high -gloss cherry wood creates a comfortable, warm and inviting entertainment space. This interior design is from Yacht Interiors by Shelley.
The Ocean Alexander 84R Skylounge Panacea is currently listed with Gilman Yachts for $6.65 million. The 2020 motor yacht has accommodations to sleep eight guests in its four-stateroom, five-head layout.
Yachting has previously reported that “the 84R is built via resin infusion with structural foam, fiberglass and carbon fiber, for strength at sea. Carbon fiber is applied to high-stress areas and used in construction of the sky lounge. Aluminum beams in the bulkheads and ceiling further strengthen the yacht.”
Worth Avenue Yachts currently has the 85-foot Burger, Checkers, listed for sale with an asking price of $2.9 million. The 2001 build underwent an interior refit in 2023, including an updated Furuno glass-bridge navigation suite. The yacht has a three-stateroom, four-head layout, and has a main-deck day head.
Checkers can sleep six in its three staterooms, which includes a full-beam owners’ stateroom with an en suite head amidships. The owners’ stateroom features a king berth on centerline, a flat-screen TV at the foot of the bed, his-and-hers vanities, and walk-in closets aft to port and starboard.
Forward, the two guest staterooms as well as the captain’s cabin are accessible from the pilothouse stairway. The forwardmost stateroom has a centerline queen berth and en suite head. The starboard VIP stateroom also has a queen berth and en suite head. The captain’s cabin has upper and lower single berths and an en suite head.

]]>Champagne Lu Lu is a 2004 Ocean Alexander 58 that has been well maintained and upgraded over the years by its owners and is on the market at $995,000.
Alexander Marine stated that “when the legendary designs of Ed Monk and the exacting standards of Ocean Alexander come together, it’s time to raise your expectations. The 58 will change how you see any other motor yacht in its class. Some of the finest naval architects in the world have specified a classic, raised pilothouse design, but Ocean Alexander executes it with a level of safety and seaworthiness few can match. For all her renowned stability, the 58 is still astonishingly agile and filled with uncommon luxury, taking you beyond a mere destination to a state of mind”.
“This yacht is meant for long-legged cruising; you could live comfortably on her for a long time, and feel safe and secure taking her just about anywhere. And you’d feel justifiably proud all the way. The craftsmanship and attention to detail make the boat. The joinerwork in the book-matched Burmese teak is exceptional,” Yachting previously reported.
Powered by twin 700 hp Caterpillar C-12 diesel engines, Champagne Lu Lu can quickly spool up to 20 knots. But it’s not all about speed on a 2004 Ocean Alexander 58. Dial it back to around 13 knots and enjoy the luxury, comfortable ride and the views.
I have to start with my favorite spot on this yacht, the salon. Stepping inside through a stainless-steel- framed glass door from the cockpit, the first thing you notice is the custom exotic woodwork that glows in the light. It’s warm, providing an immediate feeling of relaxation. Recline in one of the leather loveseats to port or kick back on the sofa to starboard. Large windows let natural light flow inside while providing ocean views.
The galley is forward of the salon and to starboard, just abaft the helm. Across is a set of steps that lead to the flybridge and a U-shaped dinette.
